Donald L. Kuhr, 75

Donald L. Kuhr, 75, of Blair died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will follow services in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Orum. Visitation will be Monday beginning at 2 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Donald L. Kuhr was born Nov. 30, 1938, in Blair, to Martin Otto and Esther Karen (Sorensen) Kuhr.

He was raised in Blair and graduated from Blair High School in 1956. On Sept. 15, 1957, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served until his honorable discharge on December 2, 1963.

On Aug. 10, 1958, he was united in marriage to Sharlene Wulf at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum. The couple made their home in Blair. Don worked in the family business at the Blair Feed Mill until his retirement.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 154 in Blair and served for many years as the commander. He was a member of 40 & 8 and served on the Blair City Council. Don also served his community proudly for 55 years with the Blair Fire Department, serving as chief for 15 years, and the Blair Rescue Squad, of which he was a charter member.

Don enjoyed his trips to Canada, fishing, cooking for the American Legion and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum, and Nebraska football. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by wife Sharlene of Blair; daughters: Kristi (Steve) Rounds of Blair and Shelly (Phil) Mruz of Omaha; grandchildren: Mandy Rounds of Omaha, Nick (Whitney) Chapman of La Vista and Ashley Mruz of Bennington; four great-grandchildren; brothers: Leon (Gloria) Kuhr of Colorado, Martin Kuhr Jr. of Blair, Melvin (Verna) Kuhr of Blair and Rich Kuhr of Blair; mother-in-law Mardell Wulf; sisters-in-law Marilyn (Hank) Neef and Betty (Ron) Livermore; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum, the Blair Fire Department or the American Legion Post 154 in Blair.
