William R. Welch, 86

William R. Welch, 86, died Aug. 8, 2014, in Mesa, Ariz., at the home of surviving daughter Paula Cloud (Larry).

He was born Aug. 24, 1927, in Blair.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Pauline Welch, wife Betty Welch, son William R. Welch Jr. and brother Richard Welch.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 on LST 929 in the South Pacific.

Bill retired from the State of California, CalTrans Division.

As Bill had many happy years living in Blair with his grandparents, Ray and Gussie Lippincott, it was his wish to be cremated and inurned with them in the Blair Cemetery, which will take place at a later date.
