#1-4 Mar., 1907 - The Pilot - Charles L. Mortlock

C. L. Mortlock died at his home in Blair at 6:30 this morning. The deceased was born at Morris, Illinois and was 48 years old last June. He was in the employ of the J.I.C. company and made a special trip for them this winter up in Canada, and in coming home was snow-bound eight days . For several months he has been in bad shape physically. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and two boys about 10 and 15 years of age. The family have made Blair their home for several years and have many friends here who extend them sympathy in the sad hour of their bereavement. The funeral will be held from the home at 2 o’clock Wednesday under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity. Mr. Mortlock carried a $2,000 policy in the Modern Woodmen.

Chas. L. Mortlock, who was reported last week to be very low with pneumonia, died at 6:40 Monday morning at his home, corner 5th and Grant streets. The funeral was held at the house at 2 o’clock today, Rev. A. G. Axtell officiating. Delegations from the M.W.A., A.O.U.W. and A.F. & A.M. of which deceased was a member, were in attendance, the latter having charge of the services at the grave. Mr. Mortlock was born in Morris, Ill., June 3rd, 1858 and was therefore in his 49th year. He was married to Miss Sue Crawford about sixteen years ago, who survives him with two sons, Harry, age 14, and Kenneth, aged 9 years. They moved to Blair about three years ago, but Mr. Mortlock was not very widely acquainted on account of his business, that of a travelling man. Dr. J. S. Mortlock, of this city, is a brother, and two other brothers, James and Frank and his mother live in Chicago. Two sisters, Mrs. P. M. Robinson and Mrs. Win Forbes live at Bodgman, Mich. Deceased carried $2,000 insurance in both the M.W.A. and A.O.U.W. lodges.
