ALBERT P. TIETGEN, 84

Albert P. Tietgen, 84, of Arlington, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 1989, at Arbor Manor. He owned and operated a service station and tank wagon service in Herrick, South Dakota.

Mr. Tietgen was born Feb. 20, 1904, in Bennington. He lived in Bennington until he was 16 and then moved to Herrick, South Dakota, where he had a service station and tank wagon service for 35 years. He retired in 1972. He moved to Arlington in 1986.

Mr. Tietgen was a member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fremont.

He married Lilly Klug on Oct. 10, 1930, in Gregory, South Dakota. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Wallace (Jean) Thompson of Arlington; two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Meta) Kracht of Wheaton, Minnesota and Emma Overseth of Paramount, California; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 1989, at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, South Dakota. Burial was in Herrick Cemetery in Herrick, South Dakota. Local funeral arrangements were made by Moser Memorial Chapel.

Memorials have been established to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Herrick or Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Emma (Voss) Tietgen; sister, Amanda Svogerson; 8 brothers, Charlie, Henry, Bill, Ben, Otto, Hans, George and Chris Tietgen.
