Mrs. Clara Heise Tietgen passed on at her home southwest of Ft. Calhoun Saturday, July 12, aged 47. Surviving are her husband, William and seven children, Mrs. Freda Neuhaus of Benson, Mrs. Wilma Peterson, Howard, Grace, William,Jr., Donald and baby Joan, four brothers and three sisters besides other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Tietgen suffered a paralytic stroke June 23 from which she never rallied. All was done for her that loving hands could do. Funeral services were conducted at the home at 1 p.m. and at the Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. on Monday when a large concourse of people paid their last respects to the deceased. Rev. O. D. Baltzly, pastor of Kountze Memorial church in Omaha, conducted the services. Six nephews of the deceased were pallbearers. The many friends of the family extend their sincere sympathy in their sorrow. Among those from away in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Emil Tietgen, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lage, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Tietgen and son, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Retchwich and Walter Tietgen all of Sholes and Carroll, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schneider of West Point, Mrs. Minnie Schneider and son, Fred of Rosalie, Nels Nelson and sister, Miss Anna and Wm. Lehmann of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Jipp Skow and Gus Wulf of Benson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Micheels, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Sierra,Wm. Lonergan and daughter, Miss Grace of Florence, and a number from Bennington. Mr. and Mrs. Tietgen had celebrated their twenty fifth wedding anniversary Sunday, May 4, when a large crowd was in attendance to made merry with them.
