Emily Ann Morton, 79 died Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997 of cancer at her North Platte, Neb., home.

Services were Monday at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour in North Platte. Rev. Thomas A. Neyland officiated. Burial was in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Mrs. Morton was born Oct. 24, 1917, to Clyde and Helen Pierce Allen at Blair. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Blair High School. She attended Dana College. On June 8, 1940, she married Charles Henry Morton. After World War II, they lived in Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island before moving to North Platte in 1958.

She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior.

Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Leola Morton of Cody, Wyo., and Stephen and Marilyn Morton of North Platte; four sisters, Peggy Keller of Bronxville, N.Y.; Ruth Tilden of Gulf Breeze Fla.; Margaret Caldwell of Burley, Idaho, and Alice Busch of Omaha, four grandchildren, Charles Allen, (Leanna) Michael, Joseph and Elizabeth and one great-grandson, Andrew.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Pierce.

A memorial has been established to the Episcopal Church or Great Plains Hospice.

Adams & Swanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
