LaVerne H. Moseman, 86

LaVerne H. Moseman, 86 of Fremont, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at the Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery.

Hannah LaVerne Homes was born July 31, 1921, in Oakland, to George and Amy Homes.

She was baptized and confirmed at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland. She attended District 64 grade school and graduated from Oakland High School in 1939. She later changed her legal name to LaVerne Hannah Homes.

After graduation, she worked as an assistant to Dr. Russell, a chiropractor, in Oakland. She married Erwin Moseman on Oct. 6, 1946 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland.

Mr. and Mrs. Moseman built a family dairy farming operation south of Oakland. In 1966, the couple sold their herd.

Mrs. Moseman was active in the Harmony Circle (Being present at its inaugural meeting with her mother, Amy, approximately 80 years ago) for her entire life. Additionally she was an active member of LCW at church and was a 4-H leader with Erwin for many years.

Mrs. Moseman worked at the Crest Café in Oakland until the couple moved to Fremont in September of 1969. Mrs. Moseman began a long career at Marion’s Villa, Kindlers Café and Holiday Lodge/Inn as a waitress/hostess for the next 37 years. They both were active members of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Fremont.

After her husband’s death from cancer in November 1996, Mrs. Moseman remained in Fremont where she was a waitress at Kindlers and Franky & Oly’s Café. Her favorite hobbies were cooking and flower gardening.

After her parents’ death, Mrs. Moseman became the matriarch of her family and hosted many, many family gatherings.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Jane Moseman of Omaha; daughter, LuAnn Christ of Fremont; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Betty Homes of Salem, Ore., Wendell Homes of Blair and special friend, Margaret Turner of Fremont, Martin and Beverly Homes of Blair, Lloyd and Betty Homes of Oakland, Wesley and Rita Homes and Larry and Irene Homes, all of Fremont; sisters-in-law and spouse, Eunice and Lloyd Persson of Oakland, and Lorelei and Jim Wickstrom of Omaha.

In addition to the husband, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Kermit Moseman, and sister-in-law and spouse, Bernice and Wayne Nielsen.

Memorials are suggested to St. Timothy Lutheran Church.

Ludvigsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 am at St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Burial Memorial Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 1 pm to 8 pm family 6 pm to 8 pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel. Memorials to St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
