Wilma Motz, 76

Memorial services for Wilma Motz, 76 who died Sept. 7, 1996 at the Apple River Hospital in Amery, Wisc., were Thurs., Sept. 12 at the United Methodist Church in Balsam Lake. Rev. Gloria Cavil officiated.

Wilma Martha Lucille Motz was born Jan. 29, 1920 in Washington County, Neb. to Gustav and Katharina Struck Wulf. She graduated from high school in Blair and attended Michigan State University to study hospital and institutional food service.

She married Albert Guy Motz Dec. 20, 1939. They moved to Modale, Iowa where they lived until December, 1994 when they moved to Melrose Farm in Balsam Lake.

For 27 years, she was the food service supervisor at Apple River Hospital in Amery.

She was elected he first president of the Wisconsin Hospital Institutional Education Food Service Supervisors organization. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Balsam Lake where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also active in the Balsam Lake Study Club.

She ran Wilma’s Diner for a time after her retirement and worked at Polaris Industries until she became ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert, who died in 1962 and her husband, Guy, who died in 1990.

She is survived by a son, George Motz of Balsam Lake; a daughter, Mary Merrill of Marshfield, Wisc.; a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Lillie Wulf of Kennard; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

The Williamson Funeral Home of Amery was in charge of arrangements.
