Mabel G. Nelson, 91, of Blair died Monday, March 16, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St, John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday. There will be a prayer service Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nelson was born Feb. 27, 1907, in Washington, Neb., to George and Annie (Pate) Christensen. She attended Washington School. On Oct. 23, 1923, she married Fred C. Nelson in Council Bluffs. She worked at the County Hospital in Omaha and at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha in the dietary department for several years before she retired. She was living at Parkview Manor at the time of her death.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington.

Survivors are her sons, Milton (Mick) Nelson, Bennington; Ivan (Ike) Nelson, Littleton, Colo.; LaVonne Lewis, Colton, Calif. and LaFern Dierks of Fremont; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grand-children; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Ruby Chapman and Hazel Gregersen, both of Blair; Oliver Christensen, Washington, Penn.; and Howard Christensen, Bennington and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; a grandson, Richard Dierks and brothers, William Christensen and Henry Christensen.
