Mrs. Mary Nelson Dies At Age Of Nearly 104

Mrs. Mary (Siemsen) Nelson, mother of Mrs. May Davis of Blair, died January 31st at the Senior Citizen’s Home at Tekamah where she had been a resident for only a few days.

Mrs. Nelson had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Davis, since 1956. She was born March 1st, 1868 in Davenport, Iowa and would have been 104 years of age the first of next month. One of her brothers, Fred Siemsen lived until 103 years of age and another brother Charles observed his 88th birthday. Two sisters, Mrs. Molly Hood and Mrs. Minnie Flagg lived to be 95 and 96 years of age.

Mrs. Nelson was married March 6, 1895 to Peter C. Nelson at Audubon, Iowa. He died in 1930.

Other survivors besides Mrs. Davis are Mrs. Carl Ross (Eunice), a daughter; 2 sons, Walter Siemsen of Boulder, Colorado and Harry Siemsen of Audubon; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa on February 3rd. Mrs. Nelson was a member of that church. Burial was in the Maple Grove at Audubon.
