Services were Saturday, April 22, 1995 at St. Columbkile Catholic Church for Melvin O. Barnes, 58 of Omaha. Burial was in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Gretna.

He was a deputy Sarpy County Sheriff.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth and a sister, Dorothy Bauman.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Randall, Omaha; John and Windy, Rapid City, South Dakota; Patrick and Christi, Fort Calhoun; Jeffrey, Omaha; a daughter, Theresa, Omaha; his father, Orville Barnes, Madison, South Dakota; a sister, JoAnn Berven, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a special friend, Lois Kehr, Omaha and six grandchildren.

Kahlcr-Dotce Funeral Home in Papillion was in charge of arrangements.
