Gertrude Farnham, One Time Resident, Dies In Iowa

Mrs. Gertrude Farnham, for many years a resident of Blair, died last Thursday, March 8th, at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was the wife of a former Blair druggist.

Mrs. Farnham, prior to her marriage, was Gertrude Walton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Walton, pioneer Blair residents. She was born at Blair September 7, 1875 and was 86 year of age at the time of her death.

She attended the University of Nebraska and Northwestern University and taught school in Blair for many years.

On June 14, 1910, she married Charles Farnham one of the owners of the Farnham and Sampson Drug Store, which was a leading Blair business house for many years. It did business in the location of the present Samson Rexall Store.

The couple became the parents of one daughter, Ruth, now Mrs. Carl Hamilton of Iowa Falls, Iowa. Mrs. Hamilton and four grandchildren survive. Mr. Farnham died many years ago.

Mrs. Farnham lived in Blair continuously until 1949, when she moved to Iowa Falls.

The Farnham home, during all of their married life was at Nineteenth and Grant streets in the home now occupied by Prof. and Mrs. Gordon Ferguson.
