Paul Barry Is Victim of Heart Attack

50 Year-Old Resident Passes Away At His Home

Paul Barry, a native a life-long resident of this county, died of a heart attack on Christmas Day at his home in this city at the age of fifty years.

Deceased was born on the old home farm south of Blair and grew to manhood there and received his education in the home school. He was married to Miss Carlotta Cashman of Kennard, April 7, 1920, and to them one son, Paul Edward, now 15 years of age.

For a number of years after his marriage he farmed the home place but later moved to town on account of his health.

Besides the wife and son he is survived by five brothers, James of Los Angeles, California; Charles and Joe of Omaha; John and Bryan of Blair; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Thompson of Blair; Anna Rose of Ellensburg, Washington, and Agnes Sipp of Omaha.

At the present time no arrangements have been made for the funeral pending the arrival of the relatives from a distance, but it will probably be held Saturday morning from the Catholic Church.

Bridge Toll-Taker, Ex-Farmer Succumbs; Rites to Be Saturday

Victim of a sudden heart attack, Paul Barry, 50, toll-taker for the Blair bridge and former farmer, died unexpectedly Christmas morning at his home, 308 East Colfax Street.

Mr. Barry had attended midnight mass Christmas Eve with his family, and had given no indication of ill health. He was taking a short nap when stricken.

Funeral services, with arrangements in charge of the Campbell Mortuary, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. The Rev. William P. Connor will officiate and interment will be in the family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery here. The rosary will be recited at the Barry home Friday evening at 8 o’clock.

Mr. Barry, son of the late Michael and Mary Barry, pioneer Blairites, was born Feb. 26, 1896. He and Carlotta Cashman of Kennard were married Apr. 7, 1920. The couple farmed in the Blair vicinity until moving into Blair five years ago.

Surviving Mr. Barry are his widow, Carlotta; five brothers, James Barry of Los Angeles, John and Bryan Barry, both of Blair, and Joseph and Charles Barry, both of Omaha; also three sisters, Mrs. Edgar Rose (Anna) of Ellensburg, Wash., Mrs. James S. Thompson (Mary) of Blair, and Mrs. Agnes Sip of Omaha.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Thomas Barry and a sister, Mrs. Howard Rugg (Grace). His mother died in 1942.
