P. A. TIETSORT DIES SUDDENLY OF HEART ATTACK

P. A. “Dick” Tietsort of Kennard was stricken with a fatal heart attack Monday afternoon as he was returning from Klotz Brothers farm sale. Eye witnesses said that Tietsort had driven his automobile onto Highway 30 near the Klotz farm when apparently his heart failed without warning; the car, although out of control, continued to back up until it struck a parked pick up, and stopped, blocking the roadway.

Born at Logan, Iowa on March 5, 1872, Tietsort was one of a family of eleven. He moved to Central City as a child, and then came to Kennard where he grew to manhood. On July 4, 1901 he and Myrtle Weed, the daughter of a prominent Kennard man, were married. The couple lived for five years in Deadwood, South Dakota, and in 1906 moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska where they homesteaded. In March, 1941, they returned to Kennard where they made their home.

Six children were born to the Tietsorts - a daughter, Olive, died in infancy and a son, Perry, passed away in 1939. Surviving are the widow and four children, Hazel Fugate of San Diego; Verona Green of San Francisco; Layea Dieter of Los Angeles; and Claar of San Diego; also two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Tietsort had been elected an elder in the Blair Church of Christ within the past few months, and had attended church in Blair on the Sunday preceding his death.

Services will be held at the Kennard Methodist Church at eleven o’clock Saturday morning, with Rev. Ronald Cochran, pastor of the Blair Church of Christ, interment in the Kennard cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harry Blaco, Elmer Wright, Chris Nelson, A. D. Anderson of Kennard; Pete Petersen and D. A. Compton of Blair.
