James Ward, 71, of Blair died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

James Ward was born Feb. 1, 1943, in Anaconda, Mont., to Ralph and Helen (Holenda) Ward.

He lived in the DeSoto Flats area since the age of 5 and attended school in Blair.

He was united in marriage to Sheree Asher on May 26, 1978, in Blair.

The couple raised their family in Fort Calhoun. She preceded him in death in 2001.

Jim was always a storyteller and could often be found at local coffee shops trading stories with his many friends.

He is survived by his children: Stephanie (Travis) Barton of Tekamah, Rhonda (Joshua) Dick of Blair, Christy (Preston) Holmes of Paris, Tenn., and Jamie (Kimberly Stover) Ward of Blair; grandchildren: Zackerie, Alyssa, Travis, Kaidy, Nathaniel, Aivree and Evan; and special friend Nancy Fairbanks of Fort Calhoun.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Sherre.
