Lester Smith Rites This Afternoon

Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon for Lester Smith, former Ft. Calhoun business man and, in recent years, a Blair resident. Mr. Smith had been ill for many months and died at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair early Thursday.

Mr. Smith was born in Ft. Calhoun October 12, 1901 and he grew to manhood in that community. He graduated from the Ft. Calhoun schools and went into business there, operating a service station, a market and restaurant.

About 10 years ago he moved to Blair where he became associated with the Nebraska Iowa Supply Company, wholesale automotive firm and he continued with the firm until ill health forced him to retire.

He was married to Miss Una Dimmick and to this union two sons were born. They are Darrell of Los Angeles and Gene, of Ft. Calhoun. His wife and sons survive his passing.

Services are being held at the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian church with the Rev. Jack Mauldin conducting the service. Burial, under the direction of Sievers Service, will be made in the Ft. Calhoun cemetery.

The pallbearers are Paul Kruger, Joe Stratbucker, Mac Allen, Ralph Steyer, John Forsberg and Wayne Misfeldt. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Hansen, Clarence Smith, Gene Paul Jipp, Dewey Nemetz and Bert Faltys.
