Funeral services for Mrs. Oscar (Irene) Alexander, 71, of Fremont will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Rev. C. VanderStoep of Fontanelle’s Salem-Lutheran Church will officiate.

Born Irene Martens June 29, 1913 in Elkhorn, she married Oscar Alexander Sept. 4, 1935 in Fremont. The couple lived in several area towns including Arlington, and lived in Fremont for the past eight years.

Both worked for Marshall Nurseries for 22 years. Irene died Sunday, Jan. 20 at Dodge County Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include her husband Oscar, daughter Mrs. Dale (Patricia) Merchen of Hillsboro, Oregon, son and daughter-in-law Don and Dorothy Alexander of Fontanelle, grandchildren Rick and Shelly Alexander and Debra and Brenda Merchen, and two brothers, Walt Martens of Arlington and Earl Martens of Fremont.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
