Richard C. Toelke, 64, died at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home in Blair on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Richard C. Toelke was born Aug. 29, 1941, in Omaha to Clarence and Anna (Hansen) Toelke. He graduated from Hooper High School with the Class of 1959. He entered the U.S. Navy on Aug. 21, 1959, and was discharged on Aug. 28, 1962.

On March 21, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Hancock at the Church of Christ in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

He began working for Western Electric, now Lucent Technologies, in Omaha in 1964. He worked there until his retirement in 1999.

He enjoyed coin collecting, reading, old cars, games on the Internet, and was a history buff.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; sons, Mark and Scott, all of Blair; and sister, Marlene Otte of Fort Calhoun.
