Evelyn Toelle, 94, of Fremont, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Nye Point Health and Rehab Center.

The funeral service was Saturday, May 30, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment was in Memorial Cemetery.

Evelyn Schultz was born June 8, 1914, on the farm near Beemer to Helmuth and Bertha (Reikofski) Schultz. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Beemer.

On Jan. 20, 1935, she married Reinhold C. B. Toelle in the same Immanuel Lutheran Church. They farmed south of Beemer for a time, then moved to a farm south of Wisner. In 1977, the couple moved into Fremont. In Fremont, Mrs. Toelle did housecleaning and also some child care.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont and its Tabitha Society, and was active with the Good Shepherd Quilters.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ardon and Joyce Toelle of Arlington, and Howard and Dottie Toelle of Omaha; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Toelle, also of Omaha; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Norman Schultz of Beemer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reinhold, who died in October of 1991; a son, Donald; and three brothers.

Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the American Diabetes Association.
