Lorene was born December 13, 1921 in Lincoln, Illinois to Adolph and Marie ‘Vogt’ Struening. She was baptized on March 9, 1922 and confirmed on April 5, 1936. In 1929 the family moved to Nebraska. Lorene attended a country school near Seward and then Seward High School from the ninth grade through graduation. After high school she worked in Seward and then in Lincoln for the Credit Bureau where she handled the blue book and was the telephone operator.

Lorene married Allen Mueller on March 18, 1972. After their marriage she joined him on his farm north of Arlington. Lorene moved to the Hooper Care Center in 2010. Allen preceded her in death on December 7, 2010.

Lorene was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow. She was also a member of the LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League), Merry Mrs Club, American Legion Auxiliary and the American Shorthorn Association.

Survivors:

Daughters – Barbara (Steve) Nast of Lincoln Virginia (Allan) McDuffee of Glendale, AZ., Deborah (Steve) Pawling of Scribner; 8 grandchildren – Michael (Kathy) Nast, Kimberly (Jeremy) Skeels, Andrea (Tom) Verley, Jacki McDuffee, Joni McDuffee, Megan McDuffee, Tara (Scott) Lea, Seth Pawling; 7 great grandchildren – Benjamin & Piper Nast, Sydney & Cameron Skeels, Brandon & Zachary Verley, Preston Lea. Brothers-in-law & Sisters-in-law – Sue Struening of New York, Orlando (Lois) Mueller of Hooper, Verda Mueller of Fremont, Mildred Bartling of Hastings, Edna Panning of Fremont, Alice Bartling of Fremont, LeRoy (Joyce) Fischer of Fremont.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Elmer.

The funeral will be 2pm Saturday August 17 at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow. Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Friday, at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont from 3pm to 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday for an hour before the service.
