LILLIAN TOFTE, 88

Lillian Tofte, 88, of Fremont, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 28, at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont, with the Rev. Cynthia Cone officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery.

Lillian Tofte was born Sept. 20, 1913, on the family farm near Leigh to Henry and Emma (Schroeder) Neuhaus. She was a 1931 graduate of Leigh High School.

Before marrying, she worked in Omaha. One of her employers was Woodmen of the World Insurance Company.

On May 4, 1952, she married Myron S. Tofte in Omaha. The couple lived on farms in the Blair area, and in the North Bend/Ames area. In 1961, they moved into Fremont, and Mrs. Tofte worked out of her home as a seamstress.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran church of Fremont.

She is survived by a son, Marshall Tofte of Lincoln; two granddaughters, Kara and Kaisie; two sisters, Mildred Spulak and Hulda Dykes, both of Schuyler; and a brother, Harold Neuhaus, also of Schuyler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron, four brothers and one sister.

A memorial will be established by her family.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
