MAN INVOLVED IN BOAT CRASH DIED SUNDAY

WAS ONE OF ELEVEN IN BOAT WHICH RAN INTO PILING ON RIVER

Funeral services were held Tuesday for John J. Torneton, 55, of 2449 Avenue I in Council Bluffs, who was one of eleven persons riding in a boat which crashed into a row of piling on the Iowa bank of the Missouri River Saturday evening, June 17th. Torneton had been listed in critical condition at Edmundson Memorial Hospital since he was rushed there following the accident. His wife, Doris, was among the injured in the mishap. The accident happened 9 miles upstream from Blair.

The boat was owned by Robert Tank, 1503 South 93rd Street, Omaha, and had been licensed to him on June 4th. It was a new $9,000 outfit.

Mrs. Margaret Sears, 50, of 3025 South 107th Street, Omaha, was released Saturday from Bishop Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. Others in the party, most of whom were hospitalized, are recovering at their homes and have been released from hospitals.

Survivors of Torneton include his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Cassle of Aurora, Colorado; a son, Rodney of Council Bluffs; a sister, Mrs. Alma B______ of Omaha; and brothers, Fred and Oscar of Council Bluffs; William of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Adolph of Aurora, Colorado.
