JULIA LUCILLE TRANMER

Julia L. Tranmer, age 80, of Craig, passed away on Friday afternoon, July 29th, 1988,m at Oakland Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Nebraska after a lengthy illness. She was born on December 4, 1907 near Lyons, Nebraska to Glen and Mabel (Olson) Carson.

Julia attended High School in Lyons and Craig, graduating from Craig High School in 1926. She then attended Peru State Teachers College, after which she taught in the Tranmer School for three years, and from 1950 to 1973, she taught in Craig and various rural schools.

Julia was united in marriage to Clinton Pearl Tranmer on March 2, 1929 at Blair, Nebraska. Mr. Tranmer passed away on July 13, 1972. Julia was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Garden Club, and was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church of Craig.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Lyle Ray and Melva Tranmer of Schuyler; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen Lea and Gerald Brand of Tekamah; five grandchildren, Gerald and Jarrod Brand, Dave Hamm, Shari Hinz, and Chris Carstens; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Carson of Craig; three sisters, Opal Thomas of Tekamah, Joyce Smith of Denver, Colorado, and Jeanette (Mrs. Dale) Johnson of Oakland. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, three brothers and three brothers in infancy.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 1988, at the Craig United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Hal Smith officiating. Interment was in the Craig Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
