WILBER LEROY TRANMER, 79

Wilber L. Tranmer, age 79, of Tekamah, died Friday, July 21, 1989 at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair after a lengthy illness.

Wilber was born on April 13, 1910 near Craig, Nebraska to Clair and Elsie (Romans) Tranmer. He married Frances P. McKain on August 30, 1935 at LeMars, Iowa.

Wilber farmed in the area nearly all his life until retiring in the spring of 1975. The couple moved to Tekamah in March 1977.

Wilber was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church at Tekamah.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Tranmer of Tekamah; one son, Raymond Tranmer of Blair; and one daughter, Janice Bowden of Glenwood, Iowa. Six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a host of friends also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Howard Tranmer and Clinton Tranmer.

Funeral services were July 24 at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah with Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
