Marjorie Boettcher, 92, died Feb. 8, 2010, at her home at Meridian Assisted Living in Lakewood, Colo.

Marjorie Forrester was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Fort Collins, Colo., to the Rev. Robert H. and Nadine (Hosford) Forrester. After graduating from high school, she attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, for one year. She transferred to Iowa State University in Ames, where she received a bachelor of science degree in home economics. She taught home economics at several Iowa high schools and, while teaching in Grinnell, Iowa, she met Arthur August Boettcher.

The couple married on Jan. 25, 1946, in Sioux City. They moved to Montana where they raised their family, living in Big Timber and Conrad. Mrs. Boettcher returned to teaching in 1961, and taught junior high home economics and English at Conrad Junior High School.

The family moved to Denver, Colo., in 1964, and she took a job teaching home economics at Sheridan Junior High, where she taught until her retirement. Her husband died in 1981; Mrs. Boettcher remained in their home until 2004, when she moved to the Meridian, first in independent living and later in assisted living.

Mrs. Boettcher enjoyed cooking, sewing and doing crafts. She did sewing crafts, ceramics, candle making, reupholstering and everything in between. She made clothes and doll clothes for her daughters and Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She took pride in decorating for holidays and entertaining friends. She loved her bridge groups and the friends with whom she played cards, both women’s groups and couples’ bridge clubs. She liked music and she liked to laugh. Her sense of humor brought enjoyment to those who knew her.

She was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Denver for more than 40 years. She taught Bible school, led the Mentor program, and helped with organizing the remodeling of the kitchen.

She is survived by her three children, Barbara and Richard Mussman of Clarion, Iowa, Drs. Mary and James Burke of Denver, and Robert and Tammy Rae Boettcher of Blair; six grandchildren, David and Heather Dorsey of Minnetonka, Minn., Sarah Dorsey of Waukee, Iowa, Meghan Burke and Katy Burke, both of Denver, Ashley Nelsen of Omaha, and Cameron Boettcher of Blair; one great-grandchild, Drew Dorsey of Minnetonka; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, William, James and John Forrester, and one sister, Barbara Harris.

Memorials are suggested to Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2300 S. Patton Ct., Denver, CO 80219-5212.
