Services will be 2 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 5 at the Johnson Mortuary Chapel in Kalispell, Montana, for Betty J. Balding, 72 of Lakeside, Mont., who died Sept. 2, 1996 at the Brendan House following an eight-year battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Rev. Rick Nelson is officiating. Burial will be in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

Betty J. Balding was born Oct. 21, 1923 in Herman to Jens B. and Jessie M. Jensen.

She received her education in Herman and attended Dana College.

She married Donald L. Balding in Blair Nov. 3, 1946. In Jan., 1947, they moved to Kalispell.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Donald, Lakeside; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Diane Balding of Lakeside and James and Jeanie Balding of Kalispell; four grandchildren, Michelle Balding, Kristofer Balding, Nicholas Balding and Nathan Balding, all of Kalispell; an aunt, L. Violet Smithers; a cousin, James J. Aker of Kalispell and a sister-in-law, Doris Gilbertson of Kalispell and several nieces and nephews.
