BARKER -Marguerite V., age 90 years, of Tekamah, NE. Died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Blair, NE.

Born Aug. 3, 1918, in Herman, NE to John & Mary (Petersen) Weber; 1936 graduate of Craig High School Craig, NE; taught at Hancock School for 2 years; married Aaron T. Barker in 1939.

They owned and operated Pump Shop in Tekamah until 1976; member United Methodist Church and OES.

Preceded in death by husband, Aaron; 8 brothers, 3 sisters.

Survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, Nov. 11 2008, 10:30am. United Methodist Church, Tekamah.

VISITATION: Monday, l-8pm with family receiving friends 6-8pm at the Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service.

Burial Herman Cemetery, Herman, NE.

Marguerite V. Barker, 90

Marguerite V. Barker, 90, of Blair, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah. Interment will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Visitation began Monday at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah, but will also be held one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Marguerite V Weber was born Aug. 3, 1918, on the family farm northwest of Herman to John and Mary (Petersen) Weber. She was a 1936 graduate of Craig High School, and taught at the Hancock School for two years.

On Dec. 24, 1939, she married Aaron T. Barker.

Following World War II, and her husband’s discharge from the army, he returned to Tekamah. In 1946, they purchased the Pump Shop, which they operated until 1976, when her husband retired. Mrs. Barker then worked for Blair Gas for a few years.

Mrs. Barker was an active member of the Tekamah United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees. She was also a member of Eastern Star, Chapter 131, where she served as Worthy Matron.

She was a great fan of Nebraska football. She enjoyed trout fishing in the Snowy Range of Wyoming, and playing cards. She belonged to several bridge clubs for many years.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron; eight brothers and three sisters.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Tekamah and the Chatt Senior Center, also in Tekamah.
