Helen N. Barkley{Barclay}, 94

Helen N. Barclay, 94, of Herman, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Helen N. Niederkruger was born Dec. 12, 1911, on a farm at Spiker to Herman and Bertha (Wachter) Niederkruger. In 1926, she moved with her mother and brother, Elmer, to Lincoln. She graduated from Lincoln High School and from the University of Nebraska.

In 1941, she married Billy F. Barclay and the couple made their home in Chicago. While her husband served in the military during World War II, Mrs. Barclay remained in Chicago for four years, where she was employed as a personnel assistant with the Federal Aviation Administration.

In 1958, the family moved to Kansas City, where she worked for a number of years as a secretary at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Upon retirement in 1975, the Barclays moved to the Herman area. Mrs. Barclay was a member of the United Methodist Women of Herman.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda, of Minneapolis, Minn.; several cousins; and special friend, Connie Arnold of Herman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy, in 1990, and a brother, Elmer.
