Baby Munro Dead

William Lauder Munro, the four-months-old baby boy of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Munro, residing at 502 west Front street, died Monday afternoon at one o’clock, after a two weeks illness.

Not long since, Mrs. Munro attended a church reception in Blair and had the baby with her, and he was the center of attraction for all the ladies and little girls present, and each vied with the other for an opportunity to carry the little one in their arms, for he was such a dear, loveable, golden-haired mite that it was a pleasure to hold him.

But the baby was taken sick a few days afterwards and on Monday the little spirit was summoned home to the God who gave it and to Him alone who is able to give consolation to the sorrowing parents in the loss of their little darling – their only son.

The funeral was held at the home at 2. P. M. on Wednesday, Rev. Kokjer of the Congregational church, officiating, while a quartet composed of the Misses Gertrude and Ethel Mead, Dr. C. R. Mead and John Moore furnished the music. The little form was laid to rest in the Blair cemetery in a bower of blossoms, none of which were as pure or sweet as the darling baby for whom they were intended. There are many kind hearts that go out in sincerest sympathy to the parents, sisters and others who loved the baby.

Death bound its icy chains around the little rosebud fair, And angels with his parting breath, went singing through the air. ‘Mid tears and sighs they gave him up why thus we cannot tell. It is the hand of God that rules, He doeth all things well. Some day they’ll clasp him in their arms around God’s dazzling throne, Where death will never sever friends, They’ll call him still their own.
