Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Munson Died Last Friday After Brief Illness

Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Munson, wife of Gustav Munson, of this city, passed away at her home on Friday, Dec. 31, 1915, after a brief illness which resulted in pneumonia.

Deceased was born in Dorpstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, on March 25, 1872, her maiden name being Anna Hinrich. With her parents she came to America, when she was only a few months old, and located at Tuscola, Ill. In 1893 she came to Blair, and on Feb. 25, 1896, she was united in marriage to Gustav Munson. She was the mother of four children, one dying in infancy. The others are Elmer, Lillian and Clifford, who with the husband survive and mourn the loss of one of the best of mothers and helpmates. She was a kind neighbor and friend, and many there are who sincerely mourn her demise.

Mrs. Munson departed this life on the sixteenth birthday of her only daughter, the anniversary of which will always recall the departure of her best friend any girl’s best friend – her mother. Mrs. Munson was forty-three years, nine months and six days old.

The funeral was held on Monday afternoon, at 2:30 o’clock and was largely attended. The Senior class in the High school, of which the son, Elmer, is a member, attended in a body. The floral tributes were many and testified to the esteem in which deceased was held. Rev. Lewis officiated at the obsequies.

To the husband and children, the sympathy of the community is extended.

Mrs. Gust Munson died at 9:30 last Friday morning of pleuro-pneumonia. About a year ago she was very low with pneumonia and never fully recovered from it. About three weeks ago she took a bad cold and it quickly turned into pneumonia and she wasn’t vigorous enough to throw it off. She realized the end was near and was prepared for it, being conscious up to within two minutes of her death. The funeral was held at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock Monday, Rev. J.W. Lewis officiating. The church was well filled with relatives and friends who were present to pay their last tribute to the many virtues of the departed wife, mother and friend. Anna Elizabeth Hinrich was born in Dorpstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany March 25th, 1872, and was therefore almost 44 years of age. She came to this country with her parents when but five months old, settling at Tuscola, Ill. Her father died while she was yet a young girl. Her mother was injured in an auto accident in this city in the fall of 1906, from which death occurred shortly after. She came to this city in 1893 and was married to Gust Munson Feb. 25th, 1896. Four children were born to them, one having died in infancy. Those living are Elmer, Clifford and Lillian. Elmer is a senior in the High school and his classmates attended the funeral in a body. Besides her husband and children, she leaves no near relatives. George VonLanken is a cousin and there are many nieces and nephews, of course. She became a member of the Methodist church, with her daughter, Lillian, during Mr. Lang’s ministry. She was a good wife, mother and friend and will be greatly missed by her many friends, as well as from the home circle.
