Louis Murdoch, 89

Services were Saturday, July 8 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Blair for Louis Murdoch, 89, formerly of Blair who died July 5, 1995 at Bozemen, Montana. Burial was at the Blair Cemetery.

Louis Murdoch was born June 11, 1906 in Blair to Dr. Russell and Bess Bonine Murdoch. He attended Blair High school and graduated in 1923. He then attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha, majoring in business.

He was associated with the banking and loan business the major part of his career, beginning in the Citizen State Bank of Blair. He also was associated with the Washington County Bank and the Blair Bank.

During that time he also owned and operated a small loan company. In 1963, eh and his wife, Frances bought a ladies ready-to-war shop, the B & C, and operated it for 10 years. They then sold the shop due to his health.

He served as a member of the Blair City Council, the planning board, Chamber of Commerce, Blair Volunteer Fire Department, Rotary Club and was the Blair city treasurer for many years.

He served in the United States Army at Mineral Wells, Texas and received an honorable discharge.

He married Frances Koopman in Blair in June, 1932.

He had three sisters, Evelyn, Helen and Peggy.

Survivors include his wife, Frances and two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Norma Murdoch, Bozeman and Dr. Lee and Diana Murdoch of Medford, Oregon; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Episcopal Church.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
