Services for Delbert Lee Christensen, 58 who died January 27, 1993 at his son’s home in Omaha were Friday, January 29 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lyons. Rev. Donald A. Holm and Rev. Norman C. Pavey officiated. Burial was in the Lyons Cemetery.

Delbert Lee Christensen was born October 2, 1934 at his parents’ home in Lyons, Nebraska to Raymond and Elva Christensen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Memorial United Methodist Church of Lyons and graduated from Lyons High School in 1952.

He married Mary Baker February 15, 1953 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. They farmed in Tekamah area and lived and worked in the northeast Nebraska area. He worked as an auto mechanic for several car dealerships and ran his own mechanic shop in Arlington, Nebraska where he had lived since 1977.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Arlington; sons, Daniel Christensen of Arlington and Alan Christensen and his wife, Tracy of Omaha; a grandson, Evan; his mother, Elva Christensen of Lyons; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Wendell and Earlene Christensen of Decatur, Nebraska; Dorthea and Morris Beck of Lyons; Sandra and Elder Schultz of Wisner, Nebraska and David and Helen Christensen of Lyons and many nieces and nephews.

Casket bearers were Rolland Newill, Howard Soderling, Mike Stolley, Richard Reed, Monty Brown and Mike Kalkowski.

Honorary casket bearers were Jim Anderson, Alvin Salestrom, LaVerne Robertson, and Jim Caldwell.

Piper Funeral Home of Lyons was in charge of arrangements.
