A memorial service for Rev. Eric Christensen, 77, of Fremont will be Tuesday, March 22, 1988, at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Robert Hansen, Rev. Mark Grorud and Rev. Carl Schattauer will officiate.

He died at University Hospital in Omaha March 19, 1988.

He was born on a farm west of Blair September 12, 1910. He grew up in Blair, and attended Blair Schools.

Eric attended Dana College for two years before transferring to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where he graduated.

He was ordained from Trinity Seminary in Blair into the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in June, 1942. Eric served churches in Brush, Colorado; Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Omaha and Palmer, Kansas.

He retired to Fremont in June, 1979, and was serving as visitation pastor for First Lutheran Church in Fremont at the time of his death.

He married Elaine Jespersen of Herman June 5, 1942, in Blair.

He was baptized, confirmed and married at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

Survivors include his wife Elaine, three daughters, Barbara and son-in-law Narvel Brooks of Minneapolis, and their two children; daughter Carol of Ottawa, Canada; and daughter Jane and son-in-law Tyler Moniz of Bermuda.

Pastor Christensen received 60 units of blood in surgery, and the family would appreciate any donations for the replacement of that blood through the American Red Cross.
