MARTHA KIRBY TRIPP, 89

Services will be Friday, August 11, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Blair for Martha Kirby Tripp who died August 7, 1989 at Crowell Home where she had lived the past seven years. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Martha Kirby Tripp was born February 22, 1900 to Oscar Wetherald and Clara Haseltine Kirby in Hebron, Nebraska. In 1920 she moved to Lincoln where she attended business college and later became a private secretary to then Governor Charles W. Bryan.

She married Earle Samuel Tripp in 1925. William Kirby Tripp and Claralynn Tripp were born of this marriage.

In 1937 the family moved to Blair where Dr. Tripp had established a dental practice. From 1945 until her retirement in 1970, Martha worked in the offices of O’Hanlon and O’Hanlon as a legal secretary.

She was a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Blair; Order of the Eastern Star; Monday Afternoon Club; and served many years as secretary of the Blair Planning Commission.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earle, in 1946.

She is survived by her son, William K. Tripp and his wife, Jeanne; a daughter, Claralynn Tripp Parks and her husband, Robert H. Parks; four grandsons, Timothy E., Patrick L., and Leslie W. Tripp; two granddaughters, Peggy Tripp Leehy and Melanie Parks; and seven great-grandchildren, Kara, Barrett, Wyatt, Lindsay, Kimber, “Tripp” and Rebecca. Many nieces and nephews also survive her.

Memorials may be made to the Methodist Church or a charity of the giver’s choice.

Campbell Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.
