Dorlene Murray, 86

Former Washington County resident Dorlene M. Murray, 86, of Fremont, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, at First Baptist Church in Fremont. Interment will be at Fremont’s Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, with the family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Dorlene M. Nelson was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Stromsburg to William and Mary (Fellows) Nelson. She grew up at Stromsburg and moved to York in 1938.

She moved to Central City in 1951, and to Fremont in 1958, where she was employed by Campbell’s Soup Company from 1958 to 1973. She moved back to York in 1973, and worked at the Laundromat.

In 1977, she moved to Arlington, where she worked for Dr. Jack Cady. She returned to Fremont in 1996.

On July 3, 1938, she married Cecil C. Weldon Sr. in York.

He preceded her in death in March 1972.

On April 7, 1973, she married Leonard W. Murray in Fremont.

Mrs. Murray was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fremont, and the Lydia Circle; was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary No. 200 and the Retired Eagles Activity Club; was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 8332 and the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 71, both of Arlington.

Mrs. Murray is survived by her husband Leonard; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Will Prusia of Fremont; son-in-law, Wayne Johnson of York; daughter-in-law, Mary Weldon of Fremont; sister, Elsie Skinner of Redland, Calif.; sister-in-law, Anita Nelson of Fremont; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband, Cecil, she was preceded in death by her son, Cecil C. Weldon Jr.; daughter, Karen Johnson; three brothers, Kenneth, Earl and Elmer Nelson; five sisters, Maude Nelson, Nettie Maiker, Mary Lounsberry, Eva Stoki and Myrtle Boatwright.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church.
