The death of Patrick Murray, the aged father of Mrs. Geo. DeTemple occurred last Tuesday morning at the age of 98 years. Deceased was born in Derry County, Ireland in 1802 and came to America about 1814 and to Nebraska in 1854 where he settled on a farm near Jackson. He was a man very fond of travel and has during his life, made many trips between Ireland and America. In 1880 (?) he came to Blair and has since resided with his daughter who gave him the most loving care possible. For many years he has been blind, and required much attention though he enjoyed good health until about four months ago when he became bedfast. The funeral took place from the Catholic Church yesterday at 10 o’clock and the remains interred in Blair cemetery. Deceased leaves two sons and two daughters to mourn, a son and daughter residing in Montana and Mrs. DeTemple and James Murray here. In their bereavement, the sorrowing ones have the sympathy of a host of friends.

Note: Birth Date: The newspapers were printed on Thursday, June 7, 1900, and said he was born Tuesday morning, so the death date would have been Tuesday, June 5, 1900. Note: Name: The Holy Cross cemetery records list his middle name as Felix, and he named his oldest son Felix.

Note: Birth Place: There is no Derry County today in Ireland, though there are four counties with a town named Derry, and many more towns that have Derry as part of their name. The following is from Wikipedia: County Londonderry or County Derry (formerly County Coleraine until 1613) is a county in Northern Ireland. It is in the province of Ulster. The county town is Coleraine. The main settlement is the city of Derry/Londonderry. The name over the past century has become contentious, with Irish nationalists seeking to remove "London" from the county and city name and unionists opposing this.
