Harold W. “Red” Myler, 83

Services for Harold W. “Red” Myler, 83 of Missouri Valley, Iowa who died November 21, 1995 at the Mercy Care Center in Omaha were Friday, November 24 at the Hennessey-Hurley-Aman Chapel in Missouri Valley. Rev. Don Thomas officiated. Burial was in the Branson Cemetery at Loveland, Iowa.

Harold W. “Red” Myler was born January 8, 1912 in Tyndall, South Dakota to Claude D. and Grace Dixon Myer.

He was a car man for the Union Pacific Railroad until retiring in 1973. He also owned and operated Red’s Auto Salvage Yard for many years near Missouri Valley.

He married Ethel Stodgel January 15, 1937 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She preceded him in death September 13, 1978.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Georgia Mae; two sisters, one brother and one granddaughter, Patty Myler.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Barbara Joan and Glen Fitchhorn of Blair; Dwight and Maryann Myler of Omaha; Donnie Myler of Tacoma, Washington; Shirley and Joseph Cox of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Connie and Jack Riche of Missouri Valley; sisters, Pearl Thomas of Omaha; Louise Mendenhall of Glenwood, Iowa; LaVerne Morgan of Missouri Valley; brothers, Doug of Magnolia, Iowa; Kenny of Greensboro, North Carolina; Paul of Missouri Valley; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers were David Jones, James Myler, Leonard Ratliff, Dennis Huff, Travis Myler and Blaine Myler.

James Doty was organist. William Cunard was vocalist.
