Delwin “Slide” Trumbo, 78 of Blair died Sunday, March 16, 1997 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Trumbo was born May 12, 1918, in Norfolk, Nebr. to Irwin and Pearl (Sink) Trumbo. He attended school in Lincoln, Nebr. He worked for DeKalb Seed Corn from 1938 – 42. He then entered the Army in Sept. of 1942. He served in the Italy Campaign and was discharged Feb. 16, 1946. After his discharge, he farmed in the Ames and Tekamah, Nebr. areas from 1946 – 68. He then worked as a carpenter on construction in Nebraska, Wyoming and Las Vegas, Nev. from 1968 – 84. On Sept. 5, 1946, he married Dolores Hespen in Fremont.

He was a member of the Blair American Legion Post 154, was a life member of the Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3304 and was a member of Blair Fraternal Order of Eagles 3215.

Survivors are his wife, Dolores of Blair; three sons and their families, Dick, Tamar and Heather of Las Vegas, Nev.; Gary, Denise and Sara of Fremont; and Bob, Susie and Tommy and Mike of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don.

Memorials may be given to the Blair Volunteer Fire Department or the Blair Rescue Squad.
