Boyd A. Giesselman, 86

Boyd A. Giesselman, 86, of Arlington died Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Services will be Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Pastor Rick Kanoy and Pastor Jason Duley will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the family present from 6 to 8. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery with military rites by the Arlington VFW and American Legion Honor Guard.

Boyd was born June 1, 1928, on the family farm north of Arlington where he was raised and attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduated from Arlington High School in 1946.

He joined the U.S. Army on Feb. 9, 1951. After his service, he returned to farm outside of Arlington, raising corn, soybeans, cattle and hogs until his retirement in 2000. In 2007, he moved into town.

Boyd was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Arlington VFW and American Legion Post 71.

Laurene Skinner married Boyd in Fremont on Nov. 4, 1970.

He is survived by his wife, Laurene: a stepson, Ronald Skinner (wife Teresa) of Fremont; and stepdaughter Linda Sundquist-Bice (husband James) of Fremont; niece Ann Morris; nephews: Hal Heybrock and Paul Heybrock; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

There have been memorials established to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Dodge County Humane Society. Condolences may be left at www.duganchapel.com.
