JASON MICHAEL TUERK, 14

Services were Saturday, July 13 at Fort Calhoun High School for Jason Michael Tuerk, 14 of Fort Calhoun, who died July 10, 1996 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha of asthma complications.

Jason Michael Tuerk was born in Omaha and attended Ponca Elementary School until first grade when his family moved to Fort Calhoun.

He played trombone in the Fort Calhoun High School Band and participated in wrestling, football, basketball and track.

He was a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 114 in Fort Calhoun and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a Life Scout, who was on his way to earning the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouting.

He played an important role in caring for his sister, Jessica, 19, who was bedridden and died May 22 of a rare muscle disease.

In addition to his sister, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles P. and Grace Derr.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Deborah Tuerk and a sister, Michelle Tuerk, all of Fort Calhoun; his grandparents, Jack and Irene Tuerk, Pine, Colorado; a great-grandmother, Vesta Tuerk and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorials may be directed to Dog Soldiers Trust Fund, Boy Scouts of America.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
