Vinton LaVerne Nelson, 63

Military services were held at the Veterans Home Chapel in Grand Island, Nebraska Monday, March 2 for Linton LaVerne Nelson, 63 who died February 26, 1992 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Grand Island. Burial was in the Veterans Cemetery at Grand Island.

Vinton LaVerne Nelson was born October 20, 1928 in Omaha. He went through school at Fort Calhoun, Nebraska.

He spent his entire life in the service of his country. He served in three branches of the service, Coast Guard, Navy and United States Army, retiring from the Army.

He lived in Fort Calhoun for many years. He then moved to Wolback, Nebraska for a few years and finally moved to Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Evelyn Sower and Emmet August Nelson; two brothers, Harley Emmet and Denton William and one sister, Darlene Joyce Freeze.

He is survived by three brothers, Loren of Omaha and Larry and Charles of Fort Calhoun and five sisters, Viora of Fort Calhoun, Leona Campbell of Omaha; Geraldine Martin of Fremont, Bernetta Goodrich of Landers, Wyoming and Dorothy Wagner of Turlock, California.

Apfel-Butler-Geddes in Grand Island was in charge of arrangements.
