Mrs. George Bailey (Mary Hopper)

Word was received here Monday of the death of Mrs. George Bailey, who died at Bancroft at 10:30 that morning of general debility.

She hadn’t been well for several years, but had been up around the house up to within a few days of her death.

The funeral was held at the house at 8:30 this morning, being conducted by Judge Dickinson, of Omaha.

The body was brought here for burial, they having lived here so many years it seemed more like home to them.

Mary Elizabeth Hopper was born in Cincinnati, US, N. Y., Nov. 3rd, 1845 and she was therefore just past 69 years of age.

She came to Cuming County, this state, in 1869, where a brother was living on a farm near Beemer, and was married there to George A Bailey in April, 1871.

They lived at West Point for a time coming here in 1875. About four years ago they moved to Bancroft to be near their son, Arthur, who is in the bank up there.

Besides her husband and only son, Arthur, she leaves two brothers, J. J. Hopper, of Stanton, and Geo. W. Hopper, of Olympia, Wash. Mrs. Geo. W. Hopper and daughter, Miss Evelyn, of Omaha, attended the funeral at Bancroft and came here with the funeral party.

Also Mrs. Abbie A. Ward and Mrs. G. C. Teich, of Bancroft, and Jesse Hopper, of Fremont. The bereaved husband and son have the sympathy of their many friends in this city and county.
