CHRISTENSEN RITE MONDAY; LUMBER DEALER IN BLAIR FROM 1919-1958

Funeral services were held today (Monday) for Karl Christensen, 73years of age, Blair lumber dealer from 1919 to 1958, who died early Friday morning at Memorial Community Hospital.

The services were held at First Lutheran Church, the Rev. Geo. Palleson officiating, with interment in the Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Christensen is survived by his wife, Marie; two sons, Roy of Wayne and Karl Jr., of Redondo Beach, Calif.; one daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Servine of Oakland; seven grandchildren; brothers, Peter of Oakland, Calif., Daniel of Eugene Ore., and one sister, Mrs. Christian Liisberg of Denmark.

Karl Christensen was born May 13, 1888 in Denmark. In 1907 he came to the United States. After working on year on a farm near St. Paul, Nebr., he entered the lumber business in St. Paul. Later he purchased and operated a lumber company in Bennington.

In 1919 he purchased the lumber yard on Front Street, which he operated until he retired in May of 1958. He was a member of the Nebraska Lumber Merchants Association. In 1958 he was presented a 50-year membership award at the annual convention of the organization in Omaha.

He was a member of the Blair Chamber of Commerce, served on the Blair Utilities Board for several years, a number of them as secretary. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. and Mrs. Christensen were married in 1914.

Pall bearers were Bob Harrison, George Sheets, Jr., Bob Jensen, Phillip Larsen, Mike Christopher, and Ed Jipp, Jr.

The Campbell Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
