Kenneth H. Christensen, 75, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, in Ventura, Calif. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.

Kenneth H. Christensen was born Aug. 15, 1932, in Omaha, to Leon and Emma (Bondo) Christensen. He grew up in rural Iowa, attending Underwood High School and Dana College in Blair.

He married Ruth E. Timm in Bennington, on October 19, 1952. He graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1959, with his three children in attendance.

During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U. S. Army, and was stationed in Vienna, Austria. The G.I. Bill helped cover his continuing education.

Mr. Christensen was employed as an insurance executive for more than 30 years, transferring from Omaha to Minneapolis, St. Louis, Dallas and Northridge, Calif. He was vice president for Fireman’s Fund when he retired in 1989. In 1993, Mr. and Mrs. Christensen moved to Ventura.

The couple traveled during the first years of their retirement, including several trips back to Vienna. Mr. Christensen was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting anything from a tiny dove up to a cape buffalo in Africa or a moose in British Columbia. His other hobbies included fishing and golf. He will be remembered for his enthusiasm for life and love of adventure.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth; daughters and son-in-law, Terri and Lee Buckner and Peggy Christensen; son, Ken Christensen; four granddaughters; two step-grandsons; sister-in-law, Betty Christensen; and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Eldon Christensen.

Memorials are suggested to the Dana College Building Fund.
