Mr. Louis Christensen was born in Denmark, Feb. 2, 1840 and died at the home of his son, George, April 15, 1925 at Washington, Nebr. He came to this county together with his brother, James in the year 1860 and in 1862 enlisted with the 83rd infantry from Illinois, serving until Sept. 20, 1865, when he mustered out with an honorable discharge.

In the year 1874 he came to Omaha where he was married to Miss Anna Larson and the same year they moved to a farm near Washington.

To them three children were born; Fred, Mary and George. The wife died January 1, 1891 and the daughter followed in 1899.

Mr. Christensen had been a resident in the village of Washington for the past fifteen years and had the respect of those who knew him. He was a man of sterling qualities, upright in his dealings and will be greatly missed in his neighborhood.

At his death, he was eighty-five years, two months and twelve days old. He leaves to mourn him besides a host of friends, one brother, two sons, Fred and George, and nine grandchildren. Interment was made in the Danish Cemetery near Washington on Saturday, April 18.
