Robert Bailey, 63

Robert “Bob” Bailey, 63, died April 28, 1988, in Tabor, Iowa.

He was born February 1 ,1925, in Omaha, and attended Blair schools, graduating in 1942.

He served in the Coast Guard during World War II and in the Navy during the Korean War.

In 1946, he was united in marriage to Darlene Green, formerly of Blair, and moved to Omaha.

There, he was employed for 19 years by Safeway.

The couple had three children, Marcia Ann, Byrle Bennett and Marlene Kay.

Marine Corporal Byrle Bennett Bailey was killed in action in Viet Nam May 25, 1969.

Bob left Omaha in 1969 to manage Allied Stores for the next five years.

During this time, he married Peggy Ruse Bailey of Tabor.

He managed Pamida Discount Stores for seven years, and then worked for the Iowa Liquor Commission four years.

In March, 1987, he retired and moved to Tabor.

Bob was a member of VFW Rommel-Conklin Post 7064 in Tabor, and the Blair Flynn American Legion Post of Blair.

His step-mother, Margaret Rosenbaum, was a charter member of the Blair American Legion Auxiliary.

He is survived by daughters Mrs. Marcia Ann Ball of Fort Collins, Colorado; Mrs. Marlene Kay McPherson of Anchorage, Alaska, five grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
