Max Bain, 79

Funeral Services for Max Bain 79, who died May 15, 1986 at the Crowell Memorial Home, were held Monday, May 19, at the Congregational Church in Blair.

Rev. Debra Tompsett, officiated. Kermit and Dagmar Goll were the vocalists accompanied by organist Cheryl Baron. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Bain was born September 18, 1906 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Joseph and Mary Bell Bain. They moved to Tekamah when Bain was two years old.

He was married to Lucille Nemetz on May 5, 1929.

Bain was in the barber business in Blair for 60 years, and retired after suffering a heart attack in 1983. He was confined to his home in ill health the past three years.

Bain is survived by his wife, Lucille, two daughters, Sally Birdsall, and Mary Ann Allen, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, two sisters. Mrs. Carroll Davis of Tekamah, and Mrs. George Whitacre of Longmont, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Pallbearers were Melvin Ruhr, Jerry Birdsall, Jack Allen, Mark Allen, Joe Gutschow, and Ted Jaroz. Honorary Pallbearers were Earl Kahlandt, Joe Peare, Charles Bessey, Wayne Steinbaugh, Rudy Fick, Ken Jensen, Merton Kuhr, Bob Richards, Mace Warrick and Kelly Ryan.
