NORMA L. TURNER, 90

Norma L. Turner, 90, of Holiday Island, Ark., died March 24, 2003 at her home.

A memorial service was held April 1 at the Holiday Island Presbyterian Church. Her cremains will be interred during a graveside service on April 28 in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

Norma L. Turner was born Nov. 8, 1912 in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Darrell and Agnes Hadley.

On July 20, 1968, she was married to former Blair resident Marshall Turner.

She was an avid private pilot since 1957, and had owned many airplanes. She flew in the Powder Puff Derby in 1971, and flew a medical mission trip into Chihuahua, Mexico, carrying medical supplies into a remote village in the Sierra Madre Mountains.

She was a church organist in her church in Tipton, Iowa, and carried her love of church music until her death. She was also a licensed amateur radio operator for more than 25 years.

Mrs. Turner was a founding member of the Holiday Island Presbyterian Church; a member of the Ninety-Nine’s Women Pilot Association; the Little Switzerland Radio Club; and the Carroll County Republican Women. She had been a member of the Church at the College of the Ozarks for more than 17 years.

She is survived by her husband, Marshall; two sons, Larry Gene Christianson of Rapid City, S. D., and Dr. Chester D. Christianson of Anthem, Ariz.; a brother, Ben Hadley of Hendersonville, N. C.; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one infant brother, and her first husband, Dr. C. P. Christianson.
