ROBERT L. TURNER, 72

Graveside services were Tues., Sept. 10 at Memorial Cemetery at Fremont for Robert L. Turner, 72 of Fremont who died at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont Sept. 7, 1996. Military graveside services were conducted by members of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 854 and American Legion Post No. 20.

Robert L. turner was born July 13, 1924 at Fremont to Joseph H. and Florence Turner. He was a graduate of Fremont High School.

He lived his entire life at Fremont.

He served in the U. S. Army in Africa, Italy, France and the Rhineland during World War II from April 1, 1943 to Jan. 2, 1946.

He was an officer with the Fremont Police department and was employed by the former Jensen Maytag Appliance Co., the former Nick Neff Tire & Motor Co. both in Fremont and then operated the Bob Turner Conoco Gas Station in Fremont.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fremont; American Legion Post No. 20 of Fremont; Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 200 of Fremont; and 40 & I, Voiture No. 1018 of Fremont.

He married Margaret Aye Oct. 5, 1946 at Marysville, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph and a daughter, Barbara Ann Turner.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son and daughter-in-law, John H. and Maxine Turner of Fremont; his mother, Florence Turner of Fremont and two grandchildren, Pamela (Mrs. Jay) England and Robert Lee Turner.

Pallbearers were members of the Fremont Honor Guard.

Memorials may be directed to First united Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or the Fremont Honor Guard.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
