MARIE TURTSCHER

Funeral services for Marie Turtscher were at the Kahler-Dolce Mortuary in Papillion on Friday, October 4 at 2 p.m. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery. Dr. Norman Schroeder officiated.

Organist was Karen Turtshcer-Volenec. Vocalist was Don Kalal. He sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Beautiful Savior.” Casket bearers were: Jack Armbrust, Herbert Armbrust, Arthur Armbrust, Harry Von Weine, Wesley Turtscher, and Wendell Kronberg.

Mrs. Turtscher was born July 14, 1894 to Jacob and Dora (Schroeder) Armbrust on a farm near 94th and Center Street in Omaha.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed her faith as a youth. She became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bennington in 1975 and has remained a member ever since.

She was united in marriage to John Turtscher on December 19, 1917 at Lincoln.

From 1917 to 1950, John, Marie and family lived on a farm south of 156th and Dodge Streets, west of Omaha. In 1950 they moved to Miami, Missouri. In 1963 they located in Ogallala, Nebraska. In 1975 to Bennington. In 1980 they went to Edmond, Oklahoma with Ken and Marge. She spent four years with them and this last year she lived at the rest home in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Marie died at the Guthrie, Oklahoma Rest Home October 2, 1985, at the age of 91 years, two months and 19 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Turtscher, since April 6, 1981; one sister, Emma Becker; four brothers, Otto, Charles, John and Emil Armbrust.

Marie is survived by one son, Ken Turtscher and wife Marge of Edmond, Oklahoma; one daughter, Dorothy Pfeiffer and husband Don of Bennington, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Don Pfeiffer of San Francisco, California, Barbara Saunders of Edmond, Oklahoma, Nancy Howell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Tamara Turtscher of Edmond, Oklahoma; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
